The blast went off at 8:15 a.m. in Baghdad's Baiyaa neighborhood, a police officer said on condition of anonymity because of security concerns. At least 40 minibuses were incinerated in the explosion, he said.
About 15 minutes later, three mortar rounds slammed into a popular shopping district in central Baghdad, killing three pedestrians, police said. The attack damaged shops in the Shorja market area and wounded 14 people, an officer said on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to talk to media.
